Nirma University
Established in the year 2003, the Nirma University, Ahmedabad is a research-oriented, student-centric, multidisciplinary, not-for-profit state private university. Within a short period of its existence, it has emerged as a nationally renowned higher education institution. The University and its constituent institutes are highly ranked by different ranking agencies.
Nirma University is duly recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act. The University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).
Dr Karsanbhai K Patel, Chairman, Nirma Group of Industries and Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF), is the President of the Nirma University. Under his leadership, the University is expanding every passing year and moving from strength to strength.
Spread across the sprawling lush green 115-acres campus, the University has a host of institutes, departments and centres, including Institute of Technology, Institute of Management, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Science, Institute of Law, Institute of Architecture & Planning, Institute of Commerce, Department of Design, Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research, Centre for Continuing Education, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Centre for Advanced Instrumentation and Centre for Robotics and Automation. Institute of Technology
Institute of Technology, Nirma University was established in the year 1995 by the Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF). The Institute is the first self-financed engineering college of the State of Gujarat. All the BTech Programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under Tier-I category.
It is one of the most sought after institutes and has been recognized as a leading centre of education in the country. The Institute offers multidisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Engineering and Technology. It has been consistently ranked among the top self-financed engineering colleges of India.

Mechanical Engineering Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1995. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Mechanical Engineering. The Department thrives to impart fundamental knowledge and emphasises on the overall development of students. The Department excels in the core areas of Mechanical Engineering such as Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Energy Systems, CAD/CAM, Robotics and Automation, and Materials Engineering.
The BTech program in Mechanical Engineering is NBA Accredited under the tier I category. The laboratory and computational facilities are well developed and faculty members possess research qualifications from premier institutions in the country.
A unique facility of the Department is the Thermal Insulation Testing Laboratory; one of the very few in the country, established under the NAFETIC scheme of AICTE. The students of the Department have a strong legacy of excelling in various competitions such as in Robotics and All-Terrain Vehicle at the national level. The Department is playing a leading role in establishing the Centre for Robotics and Automation with an aim to cater to the need of upcoming technological developments related to automation in industry.

Mechanical Engineering Students' Association
The Mechanical Engineering Students Association is a non-profit association of the department established in 1998. All the students of the mechanical engineering department are members of MESA led by a student president guided by the faculty coordinator. The association aims to ensure all-round development of its students also instilling in them a passion for engineering through practical learning. “Find the purpose, means will follow” With this motto MESA constantly endeavors to provide equal opportunities to students, encouraging them to achieve their dreams and contribute to the society through social innovation. To that effect, MESA organizes various workshops, events and fests throughout the year viz. Praveg, Robocalypse, Technocalypse, Astronomy Workshops, MESA day and initiatives for the underprivileged.
