About Praveg 22
The Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association (MESA) organized “Praveg22” on 12th & 13th October 2022 with the theme of “Know Our Forces”. The grand event was inaugurated on 12th October 2022 at 11:00 am by Air Marshal Vikram Singh, AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, South Western Air Command, Indian Air Force. An exhibition of advanced weapon and artillery was organized by Border Security Force and an Induction Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV) of Indian Air Force with aircraft simulator was positioned at the campus of Nirma University. The exhibition was open for the two days of Praveg22. More than 3000 people including college students, school students and faculty members visited the exhibition. More than 35 specially abled (hard of hearing) students along with their teachers were brought to the campus of Nirma University. They were guided to visit the advanced weapon and artillery exhibition. Also, a drawing competition was organized for them. Four Talk Shows were organized during the two days, with following Guest Speakers.

More than 1500 students attended the Talk Shows. The participants got inspired by the words of the eminent personalities.

Other than the workshops, technical & non-technical events like Debate, Quiz, Gaming, Talent Hunt, Treasure Hunt, Mechanical Design, Hackathon and many more were organized with more than 700 participants. A cultural show was organized at the end of the event (13th October, 8 pm) in which a group of Border Security Force presented a bhangda performance. After the bhangda performance, Meghdhanoosh band performed Gujarati folk songs. More than 1000 students enjoyed the cultural evening.

Indian Airforce
The Indian Air Force is the fourth strongest Air Force in the world. Established on 8 October 1932, it has around 170,000 personnel serving today. MESA is honored to host the exhibition presented by Indian Air Force at Praveg 2022 which would include their combat skills and advancements with modern technologies including the stimulation systems.
Border Security Force
Border Security Force is India's first line of defense and one of the 7 Central Armed Police Forces of India. The force was raised on 1 December 1965. MESA has hosted Border Security Force in the past in 2018 and it's a feat to host the force again in 2022 for the weapon display and exhibition. Being the first line of defense, BSF has a huge responsibility and it takes modern day warfare techniques to tackle the situations. BSF is all set to exhibit its everyday tactics and weapons including the heavy machines at the Nirma University Campus during Praveg 2022.

Guide:
Event Description- Shark Tank invites young entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to a live audience to gain exposure and potential investments.
Structure: The teams must go through two stages, the first one being a shortlisting round well before the event date and the second round requires the participants to pitch in the ideas live at event time.
Rules and Regulation
- The teams must provide a brief introduction about their startup in the form that will be
- circulated for the registrations.
- Participants are required to form their team (Group Limitations: – Minimum 3 People,
- Maximum – 4 People)
- Teams will Be given 6 mins for the Product Pitch.
- A maximum of 4 mins of Q and A will be there after the pitch.
- Teams must prepare presentations for the pitch.
- Product/ service should be unique and a creation of the participants on their own and
- should not be copied from anyone else.
It is time to test your skills against other budding entrepreneurs.
Game is not always about the mysteries but a lot more than what you seek. Find your inner sherlock and buckle up yourselves to join us in this roller coaster ride of unraveling mysteries and outwit everyone with your detective skills.
Guide:
- Treasure hunt will take place inside the Nirma campus only.
- To make it surprising enough and more fun, Event heads will tell you on the
- day of the event what are the games and the twist in the game?
- Participants can take part in a group of 5 max.
- Individual registration or incomplete groups will be allotted groups by event heads.
- Clues will be given to you on the day by the event heads.
- Other instructions will be given to you by the event heads.
- Event head’s decision will be considered final.

They say, “Everyone is born with talent.” So, if you have creativity and concept now is the time to showcase your remarkable talent and have some fun on the platform like no other, break the ice and participate to show off your brilliance.
On-the-spot painting:
- Event will be conducted “on the spot” and the participants have to paint only on the subject given on the spot.
- Duration: Minimum 2 hrs. and Maximum 21/2 hrs.
- Size of the painting will be the half imperial size of drawing paper 22′ x 15′.
- Painting can be done in oil, water, poster, or pastel colors, etc.
- Candidates will bring their own material like brushes, paints, etc.
- The institute, will only provide the paper/sheet.
Cartooning:
- Event will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ idea.
- Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
- Participants shall bring their own material.
- Institute will only provide the plain paper/sheet of imperial size.
- Judgment will most likely be based on the artistry, theme, composition presented by the participants, etc.
Open Mic:
–>It is a combination of Mimicry, Stand-up comedy, shayaris, mimes, poetry/storytelling, micro talesetc.
àJudgment will be done on originality of content, confidence, punch delivery & timing etc.
Extempore:
- Time duration: Maximum 03 minutes.
- Subjects will be given on the spot.
- Judgment will be based on the tone of voice, contents of the subject matter, body language &
- general impression etc.
- No obscenity, personal remarks, abuses or vulgarity is allowed.
Note: Everyone needs to share their final songs prior the final performances in the given format: COLLEGE-NAME_PARTICIPANT-NAME_DANCE TYPE_BRANCH
JAM (Just A Minute) :
- One minute is given to the participant where they have to speak impromptu on a given topic.
- Judgment will be based on tone of voice, contents of the subject matter, body language & general impression etc.
Solo Dance:
- Maximum (02) accompanists are allowed to in this event.
- Duration of dance: 3 to 5 minutes
- The dance form should be other than classical.
- Judgment will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make- up, sets & overall effect etc.
- Proper attire must be followed. No obscenity or vulgarity is allowed.
Duet Dance:
- Maximum (02) accompanists are allowed in this event.
- Duration of dance: 3 to 5 minutes
- The dance form should be other than classical.
- Proper attire must be followed. No obscenity or vulgarity is allowed.
- Judgment will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make-up, sets & overall effect, etc.
Classical Dance:
- Minimum (01) and Maximum (02) participants and (02) accompanists are allowed in this event.
- Duration of dance: 3 to 5 minutes
- Classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dances such as Kathak, Kathakali, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Oddissi, etc.
- Judgment will be based on qualities like Tal and technique, rhythm, abhinaya of expression, costume, footwork, and general expression.
- Introduction time of the dance routine will be 2 minutes.
Group Dance:
- Duration of dance: 5 to 7 minutes
- Minimum 6 and Maximum 25 participants are allowed in a group.
- Proper attire must be followed. No obscenity or vulgarity is allowed.
- The dance should be other than a folk dance (Indian style) or classical.
- The participating team will be responsible for removal of their sets, properties etc. immediately after the completion of their performance.
- Judgment will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make- up, sets & overall effect.
- If your team has already been formed, only one participant from the group needs to register for it.
Note: Everyone needs to share their final songs prior the final performances in the given format: COLLEGE-NAME_PARTICIPANT-NAME_DANCE TYPE_BRANCH
Solo Singing:
- Duration: 3 to 5 minutes per item.
- Karaoke music can be used.
- Orchestra will not be provided by the institute.
- Song choice is independent of genre.
- Max accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
- Vulgarity is not allowed.
- Judgment will be based on the singing skills of the participants (Swar, Tal composition & general impression, etc.)
Duet Singing:
- Duration: 3 to 5 minutes per item.
- Karaoke music can be used.
- Orchestra will not be provided by the institute.
- Max accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
- Song choice is independent of genre.
- Vulgarity is not allowed.
- Judging of this item will be on the basis of the quality of singing only & not on make-up/costumes & actions of performers.
Group Singing:
- Duration: 3 to 5 minutes per team.
- Karaoke music can be used.
- Orchestra will not be provided by the institute.
- Max accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
- Song choice is independent of genre.
- Vulgarity is not allowed.
- Judging of this item will be on the basis of the quality of singing only & not on make-up /costumes & actions of performers.
Classical Instrumental:
- Duration of performance is 3 to 5 min.
- Time for stage/Instrument setting is maximum 3 minutes.
- Participants must bring their own instruments.
- The performance can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic style.
- Judgment will be based on the qualities like, taal, selection of raga, composition and general impression of the music played.
- Maximum number of accompanists is 3.
Western Instrumental:
- Duration of performance 3 to 5 min.
- Time for stage/Instrument setting is maximum 3 minutes.
- The Maximum number of accompanists is 3.
- Cinematic music is allowed.
- Judgment will be based on the qualities like, scale, composition and general impression and originality etc.
Antakshari:
- It is a team event where the participating teams must sing a song starting with the last letter of the previous song sung.
- Minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 members should be participating in this event.
- Songs chosen should be from Bollywood movies only and should not be repeated.
- Judges’ decision will be final.
Mono Acting:
- Duration: Minimum 04 minutes and Maximum 05 minutes per performance.
- The language of the performance must be either Hindi or English.
- No personal comments are allowed.
- Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play i.e. (1) content (2) Acting (3) total design (4) general impression (5) theme etc.
- No obscenity, vulgarity, or abusive words are allowed.
Nukkad: (Street Play)
- Duration: Minimum 10 minutes and Maximum 12 minutes per play.
- Maximum Nine (09) participants and three (03) accompanists are allowed to participate in this item.
- The language of the play must be either Hindi or English.
- Use of make-up, drapery & live music is allowed.
- No personal remark, aspersions, characters assassination etc. is allowed.
- Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play i.e. content, acting, total design, general impression, theme etc.
- No obscenity, vulgarity or abuses are allowed.
Drama:
- Duration: Minimum 15 and Maximum 20 minutes per play (excluding stage setup).
- Minimum Eight (08) and Maximum Twelve (12) participants and a maximum of three (03) accompanists are allowed.
- The setup and clearance of the stage should be done by the team.
- For stage setting and removal of set & properties up to 5 min will be given after taking charge of the stage.
- The participating teams shall bring their own set, stage property, make-up, material, etc.
- Light, sound, mics & general property such as ordinary furniture may be provided on advance information.
- The language of the drama must be either Hindi or English.
- Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play i.e., (1) content (2) acting (3) total design (4) general impression (5) theme etc.
- No obscenity, vulgarity or abuses are allowed.
- Topic for the drama will be given by the committee.
- Every team needs to arrange their props on their own, if needed any help you can contact any of the volunteers or event head.
Blind coding is exactly what it sounds like, coding while not being able to see. This event will require the participants to code only using their keyboards. The monitors will be turned off so that the individual cannot look at what they are typing. The event will test not only your coding skills but also your typing accuracy. Have you got what it takes to overcome this handicap? Participate and find out!
Guide:
This is an event where participants must participate individually.
- Computers to perform the tasks will be provided during the event.
- Personal computers/laptops are not allowed in this coding competition.
- Each participant will be given a programming problem of varied difficulties to solve with their monitors turned off, hence the name of the competition, without a compiler and within a limited time frame for each problem.
- Participants whose code gets executed will be given higher preference.
- Second preference will be given to the participant with the least number of errors
- Each participant will be given four programming problems of varied difficulties to solve with their monitors turned off, hence the name of the competition, without a compiler and within a limited time frame for each problem.
- Participants will be given 3 chances to check the screen by turning ON the monitor for 5 seconds.
- These changes will be carried out under invigilator’s supervision and not by the participants themselves.
Description: On spot contest for designing a solution viable for the given task only featuring given resources in CAD drawing software that is either available to us or bring your own systems for the same. The winner will be based on originality, functionality and aesthetics of the CAD model designed. Also, dimensions may be accounted for. The verdict of the Event heads will be final and binding & no arguments will be entertained.
Rules:
- No online access will be allowed.
- Maximum time of 45 min will be given to compete

A hackathon, commonly referred to as a codefest, is a gathering of programmers and other interested individuals to enhance or create a new piece of software.
A problem statement based on real world issues would be provided to you for which the candidates shall code with any preferable languages during the 24hr Hackathon. The Hackathon would conclude by submitting their code and shortlisted candidates shall give a brief presentation.

Engineering students will gain hands-on experience during this IoT workshop in designing an electronic device that can be connected to the internet to make an IoT device. They will also learn how to program the device to alert the user whenever a dangerous activity occurs in the home so it can be used as a security device.
AUV stans for - Autonomus Under water Vehicle
Description: A one-day workshop on all the basic components of an underwater vehicle giving insights into the maneuverability, function and locomotion of the unmanned vehicle will be conducted by Team Nirma AUV which will also include the introduction of flow analysis and basics of some of the electronics systems. The session will end with a small demonstration of
the national second runner-up vehicle of 2022.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery. The process can be used to control a range of complex machinery, from grinders and lathes to mills and CNC routers.
In our workshop our professor will teach you about the practical and theoretical knowledge of the cnc turning and cnc milling(VMC).
